Buzza's Bits Redruth 10K
A superb turnout of ten ladies helped CAC to dominate Sunday’s (21st October) Redruth 10K, with wins for the mens and ladies teams and a fine first individual win for Suzy Bosustow.
James Waldie, down off the fells, didn’t find the Redruth hills as tough as most and ran a storming race for 2nd place, only 12 seconds behind winner Mike Robinson with 38.19.  He just got the better of Justin Thomas, marking his regular Redruth appearance with a solid 3rd position in 38.31.  Daniel Murrant was next in for CAC in 7th, getting fitter all the time and just getting the better of Dave Pell by 12 seconds in 40.57.  Dave was 8th overall and 2nd Vet.40 and brought the A team home for a comfortable victory.  Close behind were 2 more of our classy Vets, Dave Angilley, in 9th (and 3rd Vet.40) with 41.30 and John Waldie in 12th overall (4th Vet.40).

Dave Norton continued his improvement with 13th (I’m afraid you’ll have to plateau eventually, Dave!) and managed to outkick the flying Suzy Bosustow, who finished a clear winner of the women’s race in 42.30.  Many congratulations to Suzy!!  She managed to fight off a Ken Curtis sprint finish too, which takes a bit of doing – well it did a few years ago anyway!  Ken had a good  run in 15th (amazed to see him after the rugby final the night before!) with 42.34 to finish off our B team on the day and they were 3rd team, only just behind Hayle in 2nd.

Our youngsters, breaking through into the senior ranks occasionally, are looking good and another of those on Sunday was Ollie Starr in 19th with 42.59.  Emma Stallard achieved her best ever race finish, coming 2nd lady with 43.47 (and 21st overall) and Viv Bray was looking good (to Graham anyway!) with 44.20 for 23rd.  The talented Julia Manning, with the gig season over, turned up at Redruth as usual and clocked a handy 46.07 for 4th lady and 28th overall.  If only we could get her to do a few more races!

Graham (fancy a race?) Storer came 29th in 46.34, with new man Ian  W looking very useful for a vet.50 in 37th.  Young Jenny Almey was 9th lady in 50.00 to bring home a very strong ladies’ team in 1st place.

Next, to Angela Burrows’ surprise, came the Thursday night girls; our stormtroopers!  Debbie Nott is improving so fast that she nearly ran as fast as at the flatter Newquay race, in windier conditions too.  Here she clocked 55.26 for 79th position to just beat Lynette Torr home by 4 places.  Lynette was 1st Vet.50 and 83rd.  Jill Curtis went okay for 57.46 and 88th, with Nikki Coleman leaving Jo Sawyer behind at the finish again (!) by 2 places and 7 seconds in 89th with 58.02.  Jo’s 91st was 6 places ahead of Nicky West, who superbly ducked under the hour with 58.38 in her first ever race.
