Cornwall Athletic Club, popularly known as CAC, is the largest and most successful club in Cornwall.
The club was established on 1 January 1984, as a result of the amalgamation of two long established clubs, Duchy of Cornwall Athletic Club and West Cornwall Athletic Club. The Club meets at the Carn Brea Leisure Centre, Pool, Redruth and the main training evening is Tuesday, beginning at 6.30pm. Training takes place throughout the year. In the winter the track is floodlit and a range of indoor facilities are also available.
Cornwall Athletic Club offers the full range of Track and Field events, under the supervision of UK Athletics qualified coaches. We have over twenty coaches, all are CRB checked, most have attended a Safeguarding and Protecting Children course and many are First Aid qualfied.
There is also a very strong Road Running section and in the winter Cross Country is the main form of competition, although the younger members take part in the increasingly popular Sportshall Athletic Meetings.
We welcome new members of ALL AGES and ABILITIES, from beginners to experienced athletes and provide a full range of competition opportunities, at local, regional and national level. The minimum age for membership is nine.
Juniors - come along to the CBLC track on a Tuesday evening at 6.30pm and speak to the CAC registration desk who will advise you which coaching group to join and explain more about the club. Your first two sessions will be free. When you join the club you will be able to take part in the whole range of competitions (depending on age etc) If you have any other questions, contact Membership Secretary, Becky Vage on 07720 715152 (mobile).
Adults - Either come along to the CBLC track on a Tuesday evening for 7.00pm and speak to the CAC registration desk, who will advise you where the appropriate coaching group is and explain more about the club. Your first two sessions will be free. There is an endurance group and also track and field training.
Or, meet us at the CBLC reception on a Thursday evening for 7pm, to take part in the weekly club run. You should be able to run at least 4 miles comfortably. The group consists of a wide range of abilities - running from around 10 minute miling to 6 minute miling.
We know if can be daunting to go to a club for the first time, so if you would like to speak to someone before coming along, or if you would like a friendly face to show you where to go and who is who, contact Emma on 07717 377581, or Alan on 07765 881320.
