James had double success in the Scottish and English Fell Running Championships last Sunday (21st  September). The final races of the league were held at the same time in Edinburgh and Teesdale respectively, with James choosing to race in Scotland as each was an International Qualification race.

In the Pentland Hills, near Edinburgh, James secured 2nd position on the day, which was enough to win the U-16 Scottish Junior League title.

Finishing at 1.15pm father and son, left in a hurry to attend the English Championship presentations at Thirsk, North Yorkshire, 190 miles away for 4.15pm. (If there are any CAC runners in the Devon & Cornwall Constabulary, please do not do the Maths!)

In England, the championship had been keenly contested, with 5 different winners in 5 races. With one race to go James was in 2nd position, but could have dropped to 4th if the day's results went the wrong way. Fortunately, on arrival it became clear that results had been kind to James, who shared 2nd position with Tom Sessford of Keighley & Craven. Then it was back in the car to arrive in Penzance at 1am Monday morning.

James has now been selected to run for Scotland at the Junior Home Internationals Mountain running event back at Edinburgh on Sunday 12th October (sorry we will miss 1st Westward League) where the U-16 boys race looks wide open with probably 7 possible runners able to win on the day.
