In what was undoubtedly his best ever performance, he took control of the race in the early stages of the 2 lap course over 3 miles and 100ft of climb. Whilst faster over the level part of the course, James finally dropped to 2nd place half-way up the 2nd climb. However, he
did come in just 23 seconds behind the winner, Jamie Stevenson, in 22m 30secs, in what was a very fast race, being a 1 minute quicker than the previous year's winner.
The race was also one of two qualifiers for the Marco Germanetto International in Italy at the end of June, and certainly puts him in contention for a place.
James also came 7th in the 1st Leg of the English Championships at Keswick on 19th April in what was a fiercely contested, close race with 31 entrants.
While James was taking the low road, father took the high road to the top of Ben Lomond (9.5 miles, 3192 ft climb). As normal, James was at the finishing line afore him, with father coming 70th in a field of 120.
