A lot of overall placings are up for grabs at Bicton on Sunday in the season’s final Westward Cross Country league fixture and with a big club turnout, we could pick up a few trophies!
The Senior Ladies team have already won, a fantastic effort and the B team could come 1st in that section with a full turnout this weekend. Jo Friday has made sure of her individual victory and Kate Maddever is in 8th place overall. Sharon Coyne, Sue Ogilvie, Kerry Priest and Barbara Lock were in contention for top age group finishes but have now missed too many races to win. The Ladies Veteran team is in 4th and could sneak bronze if they turn out a full team.

The girls Under 15 team are in 3rd place and will clinch 2nd if they finish 3 in this race - come on girls!
The girls Under 13 team are in 8th position at the moment but with a big showing and good runs could slip into 3rd overall! All to play for in a very tight team race.
On the men's side, the Senior team are 3rd and are battling with Tavistock AC for silver. The B team could get 2nd with a good finish but we'll have to get 10 runners out this Sunday boys. Dave Rowe is competing after running the Plympton 10k in the morning, so where are the rest of you?!
Individually, Dave Buzza is in a close battle, probably for 3rd but maybe for 1st if Kevin Toher (N&P) and Jon Ward (Bideford) don't show at Bicton. Jon Keast is in a well-deserved 6th place, after a great season. The Veteran’s gold is already sorted. Our Vetreans team is sure of 3rd, but will beat Newquay for 2nd if we can turn out 4 runners. Come on lads!!
Our Under 17 Men’s team are in 2nd but could lose out on medals, unless we field at least 3 runners to make sure of silver. Craig Cadwallader could end up 5th individual with a good run on Sunday.

The Under 15 Boys team could just about win with a good performance at Bicton. They are in 3rd now but could also finish out of the medals. It's as close as that. Owen Willett and James Waldie are 2nd and 4th respectively and if they both run, James will move up to bronze or even silver and Owen could win but will definitely get at least 2nd. Complicated! Get that team out boys!
The Under13 Boys are in 4th and could well clinch 2nd place with a big showing. Individually, Josh Mortimer is going well in 5th and Callum Jones could go from 7th to gold with a win.
A lot of the overall placings are very close, so forgive me if there are any mistakes or omissions. Let’s try and get everyone out. CAC could win medals in every team race, the only club in with a chance of that, so let's go and do it. Lots of fine individual performances would finish off the league season in style.
Many thanks to Cynthia Hansen for getting the teams out and turning up in all weathers and venues. Team medals in all races would be a fitting reward for her efforts.
