CAC's 'webfooted athletes' excel in Exmoor Half Ironman

Some fantastic results from our crazier members in the Wimbleball Half Ironman on Exmoor recently.

After a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile run, Matt Pullen finished a superb 14th and Nathan Jolly 17th, just 95 seconds behind Matt, after nearly 5 hours of racing.  They both beat several Professional triathletes, with Nathan putting four minutes on Matt in the swim and adding another three on the bike, before Matt came storming back on the run (well, the first bit of it, as he suffered late on!) to finish in 4 hours 49 minutes exactly.  Matt came 2nd in his age group and Nathan 1st.

Dave Pell had a great day as well, finishing in 129th out of the 1000 entrants and 17th Vet 40, with a strong swim, a good bike and hanging on for the run, clocking 5 hrs 36 minutes.   Great to see Matt Lewis back after three months off running with a foot injury. Matt opted just to do the swim and bike, with an average swim but an extremely classy bike which was 7th fastest out of all the competitors.

Kathryn Burgess hung tough for a scintillating 39th female position, with a consistent day featuring good swim and run, dropping back slightly on the bike.

Very well done to you all.

Oh, by the way:

Matt, Nathan, Dave and Kathryn have all qualified for the World Championships in Florida in November.
