Buzza's Bits - Helston Triathlon

Matt Pullen, competing in the European Duathlon Championships last Sunday, came a fine 9th in the non-elite race and 3rd in his 30-34 age group, beating the times of many of the elite competitors.  Well done to Matt.  Keep a close eye on his performances in the road races this summer!!

Moving on to the Helston Triathlon, there seems to be a steadily increasing contingent of lycra fetishists in the club and although some now follow the true path, like Jo Friday, others persist with this masochistic sport.  Nine of our finest, representing and even wearing various outfits, turned out at Helston, with some looking better in their figure hugging gear than others!  No Viv, of course I don't mean you!

On a hot day, with a short swim followed by a hilly bike ride and run, our heroes flew around the course with great success.  No shocks here as Matt Pullen completed a comfortable victory by two minutes.  Matt Lewis finished a fine 3rd, closely followed by Jeff Houghton in 5th.  Olly Jose was 6th, with Will Collins not far behind in 10th place.

It was good to see Mark King looking surprisingly good coming up the last steep hill in 23rd position and there was a great performance by Dave Pell who was 26th.

Club stalwart Viv brought the troops home in an impressive 82nd position, out of 185 finishers.
