There were some good club performances on Sunday in the record field of 426 starters in the Duchy Marathon and the Duchy 20 miles.

David Symons (Thames Hare and Hounds) winner of the Duchy Marathon in 2 hours 39 minutes 43 seconds
We finished a Men's team for the first time for a few years. Well done to the boys who braved a blustery and increasingly strong wind. They finished 2nd team behind Hayle, though three of the lads were only building up for London in six weeks time. Terry Timms was first home with a time of 3 hours 10 minutes 41 seconds in 13th place, followed by Dave Southby (3.22.19), agonisingly close to his personal best in 22nd position. Aaron Rodgers was a surprise package in 72nd with 3 hours 48 minutes 32 seconds. I don't think he's run as far as a half marathon before, so that was a great effort. Close behind was Graham Storer, after exiting the Penventon last, together with Viv Bray and moving rapidly through the field (when he could stop Viv from gabbing that is!) to finish in 3 hours 53 minutes 48 seconds.

Dave Southby running in his 17th successive Grand Prix race
In the 20, Jon Keast cruised around in 2 hours 04 minutes 22 seconds and his London preparation is looking good. Pete Torr finished looking strong in 2 hours 38 minutes 43 seconds, with Martin Todd not far behind with 2 hours 44 minutes 53 seconds. Big Viv (2.51.07) was so desperate to chat that he was running backwards around Barncoose roundabout, grinning and trying to get a reply from a rather desperate looking Carn Runner. Whether her legs were seizing up or her brain is open to conjecture!
Sam Alexander, building up for London and Nikki Coleman, in her longest ever run, both looked very comfortable with a mile to go, finishing in 3 hours 42 minutes 20 seconds Well done to the Thursday night girls. We might have to drag you along occasionally on a Tuesday night too now!
Many thanks to all connected with the club and for the much appreciated support from members of other clubs, who helped out on the day and were vital to this huge team effort.
