We certainly led the way at the first Kerrier Sports Awards Evening organised by the Kerrier Sports Development Team in partnership with EnergiseWest, the Community Sports Network for Kerrier.
After an outstanding 2008 in Track and Field, Cross Country and Road Running, we were presented with the Club of the Year Award, ahead of the other nominated clubs, Wendron Football Club, Carn Brea Judo Club, Redruth Cricket Club, Swallows of Helston Gymnastics Club and Duchy Pirates BMX Racing Club.
Conor Robinson was presented with the Young Sports Person of the Year trophy and club chairman, Alan Rowling won the Lifetime Services to Sport Award.
Lamorna Newman was the runner up in the Young Female Sports Person of the Year category and Dave Buzza was one of four nominations in the Sportman of the Year section.
Neil Caddy, a former CAC member and international athlete, compared the evening and the awards were presented by Heather Fell, the Modern Pentathlon silver medallist from the Beijing Olympics, Hannah Stacey, seven times UK Freediving Champion and our very own Tony Lett, who recently received a National Award for Services to Coaching.
